Details: These ultra chic late Victorian-era earrings have such a modern look. Onyx spheres are suspended from slightly rosy gold ear wires with a black enamel trapezoid detail above. Lightweight and wearable, these add a bit of fashion to any look.

Originally black details for jewelry were worn strictly for mourning, but as time went on the darker jewelry became a fashion statement onto itself.  One also sees the beginning of the Art Deco-era influence in the geometric construction and contrasting shape of these lovely little earrings.

Measurements: The earrings are just under 1 1/4" long, including ear wires, and the  spheres are about 1/2" in diameter. The weight is 9g.

Origin: Likely American, c. 1900's.
