Details: This wonderful Aesthetic Movement 15k yellow gold bangle bracelet features an artfully and finely engraved scene with birds flying among the trees with borders of delicate leaves on each side. The bangle's mechanism opens and closes with a satisfying snap. This style of bangle is meant to fit snug to the wrist so it doesn't turn and this bangle is suitable for every day wear.

The majority of the Aesethetic Movement pieces were crafted in sterling silver - this is a rare example of a piece crafted in gold.

Aesthetic Movement occurred in the late 1800's - 1901. The idea behind the movement was art for art's sake, striving to profess that the arts should provide refined sensuous pleasure and celebrate beauty, rather than convey moral or sentimental messages. The movement rose in contrast to the heavily nostalgic and often dark Victorian period. The modern woman of the time was more independent and casual and she wanted jewelry that reflected her lifestyle. Prominent use of flowers, leaves and birds as well the Japanese arts were common themes.

Measurements: The bangle is approximately 3/4" wide and the inner circumference is 6.5". The weight is 23.2g.

Origin: English, as the English standard for gold at that time was 15k, however there are no hallmarks. We surmise that this was most likely a custom piece for a client and not intended to be made available for resale.
