Historically snakes have always been revered as powerful symbols of rebirth and transformation, dating back to the early Egyptians. The ouroboro, or snake swallowing its own tail, is the symbol for eternity.  During the Victorian era serpent motifs came to symbolize eternal love. Snake jewelry and rings in particular became extremely popular in the mid-1800's due to widespread admiration for Queen Victoria's emerald-set snake engagement ring.

Measurements: The ring is 10mm at its widest point and tapers to 6mm at the back. The ring size is 6.75.

Origin: English, c. 1875.
